jewelry as unique as the woman wearing it ™

I'm Kay Parker and I'm the founder and principle designer with CopperSunDesigns.  I can't remember when I wasn't creating jewelry of some kind.  Stringing found objects to wear around my neck or making earrings out of paper that I could tape to my ears are some of my earliest childhood memories.  The love of creating beautiful jewelry is one of the things that has remained constant throughout my life.  It has sustained me through a couple of marriages, several careers, being a single mom and through countless other life detours and ventures.  Although I love all types of art and have enjoyed some success in painting, it's jewelry that I keep going back to.  I just love creating beautiful things that make women feel beautiful when they wear them.  And it's Scriptural to wear jewelry too!  According to Song of Solomon 1:10, "Your cheeks are beautiful with earrings, your neck with strings of jewels".  I was so thrilled when I found that verse!  I knew that God had blessed me with the talent to create beautiful things, and I knew that as my business grew I would be able to employ a lot of women who might not otherwise be able to work, but it wasn't until I saw that verse that I absolutely KNEW that I was indeed doing what God had intended for my life.  I'm using the talent He gave me, and through my efforts, it is my fervent prayer that countless women will be blessed.

CopperSunDesigns is definitely a family affair.  I am blessed with three sisters, a wonderful daughter-in-law, and two precious granddaughters.  Two of my sisters, Jill and Denise, and my daughter-in-law, Kim, help with shows and those times when we're in a bind.  They also help with sales, market research, finding show locations and/or retail outlets, and serve as great jewelry models!  My other sister, Peggy, (pictured at right) is normally involved fulltime as our sales and operations manager.  I say "normally" because she is currently recovering from surgery and a serious back injury.  She's taking a little time off to get well but should be back with us soon.  She says she appreciates your prayers and to send chocolate!  More about the other two blessings, Madi and Molly, follows.

These are my two junior design assistants, my precious
granddaughters who have been helping me in the jewelry
business almost since they were toddlers.  They have literally
grown up making jewelry and they bring a wonderful freshness
and an abundance of youthful, fun ideas to the table.  As
their time permits, they assist me in immeasurable ways with
nearly every aspect of the business.  Of course other little
things like school, home responsibilities, gymnastics, friends
and their increasingly busy social activities compete with their
jewelry-making time!   They are here every spare minute that
they can be and I love it.  They are currently creating their
own young teen line and stay busy designing and selling their school spirit line also.  Whatever they're doing, they  provide an abundance of energy and side-splitting humor to our little group!  Madi, with the long hair, is now ten, and delighted to have finally reached the "double digits"; Molly is seven.  Both girls are blessed with a sense of design and creative abilities far beyond their young ages.  They are such a huge blessing, and a continual source of joy to me.  I never cease to be amazed at these two incredible kids.

Madi, my "senior"junior designer, is shown here at her worktable.  "Moose" and "Bear", her constant companions since birth, are never far away and usually serve quite handily as  models for whatever she's working on at the moment.  Here, both Moose and Bear are sporting her latest bracelet creations as tiaras. Madi is my analytical one. The slightest technical problem or construction dilemma we encounter during the day can be solved by Madi in a matter of minutes.  She also has a keen eye for color and design as well as a knack for combining things that I might never have thought of.  Madi is my detail person and can not only figure out anything and everything but is quite handy in remembering (and reminding me of) anything I have forgotten.  Miss Madi is definitely the one who keeps the rest of us on our toes!
Molly is my little dreamer who loves to surround herself with beautiful things.  She loves art, interior design, and most of all, jewelry.  She has a wonderful sense of color and design which she demonstrated at a very young age. She was successfully coming up with her own patterns and designs before the age of three.  Molly brings a tremendous spirit of fun to our group and nearly always has us laughing.  Her constant pal George, the orange bear, is watching over her as well as modeling her jewelry.  Like Moose and Bear are for Madi, George is very much a part of the whole creative process for Molly.  Molly is our resident fashionista and her running commentary on all the fashions (fashion mistakes in particular) she sees in magazines and on TV keeps us in stitches.

Your cheeks are beautiful with earrings, your neck with strings of jewels.
